Rāhui
restriction, reservation/exclusion under tribal authority and marker warning of this. Also a statement that a resource is being actively managed.
Rangatiratanga
chieftainship.
Regional Coastal Environment Plan
aims to promote the sustainable management of the natural and physical resources of the Canterbury coastal environment. It sets out issues relating to the protection, development and enhancement of the coastal marine area and the coastal environment.
Regional Land Transport Plan
the region's request for funding support from central government's National Land Transport Fund, administered by the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA). It is a statutory document setting out the challenges and investment priorities for the regional land transport network for the next ten years. It also sets out the programme of activities proposed by Environment Canterbury, territorial authorities, and NZTA, to address the challenges and achieve objectives outlined in the Plan.
Regional Policy Statement
provides an overview of the resource management issues in the Canterbury region, and the objectives, policies and methods to achieve integrated management of natural and physical resources. The methods include directions for provisions in district and regional plans.
Regional Transport Committee
the Canterbury Regional Transport Committee comprises representatives from agencies who put forward activities to be included in the Canterbury Regional Land Transport Plan. Responsibility for delivering activities in the plan rests with the proposing agency. The committee monitors implementation. As well as producing the Canterbury Regional Land Transport Plan, the committee advises Environment Canterbury on transport issues and advocates for legislative and policy changes at a national level.
Resource Management Awards
a special category in Science and Technology fairs held in Christchurch and Timaru. They are judged by Environment Canterbury staff with prizes awarded to students whose exhibits take an innovative investigative approach to solving an environmental issue facing Canterbury.
