Background notes
Additional input from rivers and streams have not been estimated but is likely to be mainly restricted to shallow aquifers connected to the rivers. Development of the groundwater resources of the inland downlands is limited by the generally low yield available from relatively impermeable gravels. Well yields improve towards the coast and the potential for saltwater intrusion needs to be considered.
