Requests for flood information may be associated with:
- Property transactions
- Subdivisions
- Building consents
- Valuations
- Insurance assessments
- Resource consent applications and audits
- District plan changes
The assessment of flooding may include:
- Historic flood information including photographs
- Potential sources and extent of flooding at a site
- Expected flood frequency (return period)
- Expected depth and velocity of floodwater
- Advice on the location of new buildings and floor levels
- Coastal flooding and coastal erosion
The information provided in the flood assessment will vary depending on information Environment Canterbury holds on the property. Flooding may vary significantly from site to site due to local variations in topography.
To carry out an assessment of flooding we require:
- The applicant's name & contact details
- The address of the site
- Legal description of the property
- Valuation number of the property
- An accurate map or description of proposed building site (where applicable)
- Why the flood information is required, for example:
- To purchase the property
- Building floor heights
The cost of providing an assessment of flooding is $150 + G.S.T.
