The pollution hotline receives around 100 calls a week from the public. The types of incidents reported include:
The hotline is managed 24 hours, 7 days a week throughout the year and is the means by which members of the Canterbury community are able to report incidents. A staff member is on standby after office hours to respond to emergency environmental incidents only. They are also available to record other reported breaches and to offer advice via telephone on other Resource Management Act (1991) matters.

Helpful information when reporting an incident:
You can make a complaint as an anonymous complainant, but it is very helpful to be able to call you back if further information is required. Our investigating officers will not disclose complainant information. If we are unable to contact the complainant this may hinder any investigation conducted by the Regional Council.
