Is the incident occurring at present? If yes Environment Canterbury will follow it up. However if it occurred in the past we will register your call and ask you to please ring when the incident occurs again so that we then can follow it up.
Generally pollution related complaints should be reported to the 24 hour Pollution Hotline on 0800 76 55 88. However you may have been referred to Customers Services because of Pollution Hotline overload. We'll be able to refer the incident to the Environment Canterbury monitoring or enforcement teams.
If a resource consent for the activity exists the incident will be referred to the Environmental Protection Officers to be monitored. If no resource consent exists the incident will be referred to the Enforcement Officers for further assessment and follow-up.
