The Canterbury Water Management Strategy is a non-binding document. However the support through the Mayoral Forum gives it a high profile, which will help its inclusion in statutory Resource Management Act (RMA) processes, regional policy statements, regional and local plans. Recommendations will also be made how central government could help through relevant legislation, national policy statements, environmental standards and other forms of support.
