No that is not the case. The Authorisation number indicates that a particular model of woodburner meets Environment Canterbury's air emissions standards and is able to be installed in properties in Canterbury.
The woodburner approvals are issued for five years and, at the end of this, manufacturers need to reapply to prove that the woodburner still meets the emission standards.
Under Environment Canterbury's current air rules, once an approved woodburner has been installed, you can usually continue to use it for at least fifteen years.
