"You can install any clean heating you like such as a heat pump, a flued-gas heater, a diesel heater or any other electric heater.
You can only install a low emission woodburner if you are replacing an open fire or woodburner currently used as the main heating in the main living area. You can view a list of approved appliances on our website.
You are not allowed to install a high-emission burner, coal burner, multi-fuel burner or open fire within the Christchurch Clean Air Zone or other residential settlements within Canterbury.
