In the 24 hours from midday Saturday to midday Sunday 150 to 200mm of rain is predicted to accumulate along the Alpine Divide with over 70% of this spilling eastwards. Some of this may fall as snow higher up later in the event.
The Waimakariri will be flowing above normal levels during the balance of the weekend.
Although no out of river problems will occur recreational users should expect river conditions to change quickly.
Other North Canterbury rivers to be affected include the Rakaia, Hurunui + Waiau .
In our Southern Region the Rangitata will rise as well.
