This variation seeks to incorporate a new environmental minimum flow and allocation regime for the Motunau River in Schedule WQN1. The existing environmental minimum flow was set under an individual consent. It has been reviewed to take into account the needs of instream values and those of irrigators.

Variation 3 was notified on 28 June 2007. Submissions closed on 5 October 2007 and no submissions were received. Because no submissions were made on Variation 3 it will not follow the usual variation stages, however it cannot become operative until Chapter 5 of variation 1, which it relates directly to, becomes operative.

Stage in the Variation process:  Variation 3 will become operative when Chapter 5 of Variation 1 becomes operative.
