Regional Coastal Environment Plan for the Canterbury Region - Proposed Private Plan Change 4 - Marine Facilities, South Bay Kaikoura
This Plan Change seeks to exempt the existing fuel tanks located at South Bay, Kaikoura, from Rule 9.3, which prohibits storage of hazardous substances (in this instance petrol and diesel) within the Coastal Hazards Zone. The existing fuel tanks form an important part of the operation of the Kaikoura Marine Facilities Area. The Private Plan Change proposes to make the storage of fuel in the existing tanks a Restricted Discretionary Activity so that a resource
consent can be sought for their ongoing use.
