Regional Transport Committee
The Regional Transport Committee (RTC) is established under the auspices of the Land Transport Act 2003 (as amended). It is responsible for preparing the Regional Land Transport Strategy, the Regional Land Transport Programme, and for advising the Regional Council on strategic land transport planning and funding matters.
Active and Passenger Transport Working Group
The Active and Passenger Transport Working Group (formerly the Active Transport Working Group) was re-established by the Canterbury Regional Transport Committee (RTC) to help facilitate regional coordination and monitoring of active and passenger transport outcomes that encourage greater use of walking and cycling (known as “active transport”) and passenger transport in Canterbury, in line with the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport Funding (GPS) and the targets of the Regional Land Transport Strategy (RLTS), and the New Zealand Transport Strategy (NZTS).
Freight and Network Efficiency Working Group
The development of a regional freight strategy was identified as a priority in the Canterbury Regional Land Transport Strategy (RLTS) 2002-2007. During 2002-2003 a series of consultations with freight stakeholders resulted in the creation of the Canterbury Freight Action Plan, which is an integral part of the RLTS.
Canterbury Active Transport Forum
The Canterbury Active Transport (CAT) Forum is a multi-party forum for those within the region who have an interest in the development and promotion of active transport.
