Environment Canterbury is responsible for managing the region’s air quality, including controlling the discharge of contaminants into air. National Environmental Standards exist for air quality and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are met.
Rules to improve air quality have been developed with the community and may affect the types of home heating that can be used in the towns where poor air quality occurs.
