Environment Canterbury has publicly notified its intention to amend its Navigation Safety Bylaws for the Dobson, Godley, Hopkins and Macaulay rivers. Submissions closed 1 November 2011.
Under the proposed amendments, boats will be allowed to exceed 5 knots on these four rivers between Christmas Day and the end of April. The 5 knot speed limit will apply from 1 May to 24 December.
