There have been 3 days of steady rain along the Main Divide and a further spell is predicted through till Saturday midday.
This is causing the Waimakariri River to rise and run above normal levels today & tomorrow.
The Rakaia River will also flow above normal for the same period.
The rainfall is expected to spread north tomorrow and this will cause the Hurunui & Waiau Rivers to rise.
At this time ECan does not expect the rivers to rise to significant flood levels or there to be any "out of river" flood problems. However, people and contractors should be wary of rising flow levels over this period.
Updated river flow and rainfall information can be found at:
This will be updated at 9am Saturday the 2nd of August or earlier if the situation changes.
This was updated @ 1-30pm Friday August 1.
