The Information Services section is part of the Finance and Corporate Services Group.
Information Services covers records management, and IT services.
The Records team ensure that hardcopy and electronic information is appropriately classified and is accessible as a record of ECan’s activities. The team do a lot of this work themselves, but they also assist staff in using computer systems to record and find information.
The IT teams provide IT services to staff, including computer systems as well as software and data management. The core computer systems are from Microsoft and there is ongoing work to keep these updated. Other software is also developed and maintained by the team to provide Council-specific functions. Environmental data is combined into centralised systems for reporting, or analysis using Geographical Information Systems.
