If your property is listed in the Schedule included in Chapter 3 of the Natural Resource Regional Plan or listed as a category B heritage home in the Ashburton District Plan, you will be able to continue to use your open fires or solid fuel burners.
There are certain conditions you will need to meet in relation to the fuel you are burning. The solid fuel burner and chimney must also be an original feature of the house.
