Environment Canterbury works with land occupiers to ensure Pest Plants and Animals are controlled. Pest plants and animals threaten land production, land management and the environmental values people place on production and recreational resources. The Biosecurity Act enables the Council to eradicate or manage pest plants and animals as specified in regional pest management strategies. Bovine Tb
Kevin Gallagher is the Bovine Tb and contracts manager. He is responsible for managing the Tb vector control programme as part of the National Pest Management Strategy within Canterbury. He is based at the Christchurch office.

Biosecurity Manager
Graham Sullivan is responsible for how the policies in the Regional Pest Management Strategy are implemented. He works from Timaru but has responsibility for the whole region.

The Biosecurity Section is organised into three teams:


Northern

Biosecurity team Leader: Laurence Smith
Biosecurity officers: Jan Crooks, Terry Charles, Peter Morgan, Lance Smith, Lindsay Scott (all of Amberley)
Noel Crump, Tom Kirkwood (both of Cheviot), Peter Adams (Kaikoura).


Central

Biosecurity team leader: Rob McCaw
Biosecurity officers: Stephen Brown, John Thacker, Gemma Bradfield, Sam Thompson (all of Christchurch)
Errol Barnes (Darfield), Jock Bulman (Little River).


Southern

Biosecurity team leader: Brent Glentworth
Biosecurity officers: Terry Broughton, Glen Currall, Bridget Keenan (all of Timaru).
